Well considering that Spongebob should be biologically asexual, that should end the discussion right then and now. But because it is a cartoon in which the characters are personified, it doesn't since they posses human traits, including love.
However this is also a kid show, and other then the occasional male x female crushes, they aren't going to make it canon. I suspect that most of the characters have a heterosexual life partner thing going around. Which the fandom blows out of proportion anyway :P
