In general, I liked how much content was either changed, reanimated or added in. Gurren-hen felt like watching the tv series up until the last 30 minutes or so. I anticipated this for Lagann-hen and fortunately this was not the case. It feels like the majority of animation is new which is good.

I also liked how they made an epic opener with the Lord Genome battle, overall it still felt nice and not rushed. Speaking of which, unlike what many fans say, I did not feel like the pacing was off for the most part (with a few exceptions ;3), but then again I tend to be oblivious to that problem *cough5D’sDSarccough*

Seeing snippets of what went on during the timeskip was also a plus for me, as they really did not show enough of that during the tv series. Nia’s letters to Kamina was sweet and a nice touch for her. Speaking of her I wibbled during the almost kiss scene with her and Simon. God dammit Gainax ;;

Simon’s arrest was so fucking rushed. He blew up shit and bam he’s sentenced. They didn’t give enough time to it imo.

Simon messing around with his spiral energy in prison was pointless but cool. And Viral getting the shit beaten out of him while making an Adiane comment was lol worthy.

Im kinda meh about them replacing “Pierce the Heavens with Your XXX” during the scene where Simon and Viral have their big damn heroes moment, if only because I love that BGM so much.

Cyber Genome hacking into the moon was retardly awesome, that is all. Same goes with the moon turning into a mech on its own.

Disappointed that the Rossiu PAUNCH was cut to a mere bitchslap since it lessens the impact of the entire scene a lot compared to the tv series.

Also is it just me or does or does Simon launching off the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann to their space mission seem really jarring? Maybe its because they copied and pasted the animation from the tv series.

The anti spiral is creepy as hell in the movie, enough said.

Damn, Gainax really upped the darkier and edgier crap on this one.

Kittan’s heroic sacifice was rushed imo, and I was saddened that they didn’t play a lyrical version of Libra Me from Hell during his King Kittan Giga Drill Breaker.

Dreamworld escape was still epic, loved the inclusion of Kittan and Kamina joking about forgetting him XD

Playing Pierce the Heavens with Your XXX when the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was formed was an excellent choice.

Fridge Logic, how could Viral create a Tengen Toppa when he cannot create spiral energy?

For the rest of the final battle, OMGEPICHOLYSHITHOWBIGCANIT GET

Lastly, older Simon is buff and his sentence about spreading flowers made me wibble again
