CHARACTER NAME: Yusei Fudo

FANDOM: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s (Five Dragons)

CHRONOLOGY: During episode 47, right before heading off to the Old Momentum controllers.

BACKGROUND:

The world of 5D’s is set in the futuristic setting of a city split into two parallel areas called Neo Domino and Satellite. Neo Domino is the gleaming gem of city, with the technology advanced and most people belonging to that of upper middle class and upper class. The small areas ranging from the apartment building of Tops where the withiest citizens live to the run down Daimon area where marked criminals seek refuge from Security sending them back to Satellite.

That’s right, marked criminals. Every person who commits some sort of crime, whether it be stealing or unauthorized travel between Satellite and Neo Domino, is branded with a yellow tattoo on his/her face. This marking serves a multitude of purposes. Whenever an officer scans it, it pulls up a rap sheet of the criminal and the mark itself contains a tracking chip. The marks less citizens of Neo Domino tend to discriminate against these criminals.

Satellite on the other hand, is a dystopian society and as you might imagine, its overrun with criminals and the poorer folk struggle to survive. Crime runs wild and gangs overrun every area to the point where some areas aren’t enforced by law enforcement.

Much of 5D’s, being a Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, has its culture centered around a trading card game called Duel Monsters. There are two main types of dueling, using a standard Duel Disk and participating in a standing duel or a Riding Duel which utilizes D-Wheels. D-Wheels are motorcycles and they are often custom made to fit each duelist.

Then there are the legendary Signers, five people who have been chosen by the Crimson Dragon god to bear his birthmark on their right arm. Yusei himself is one and carriers the Tail birthmark. Each Signer is in possession of a Signer Dragon in the form of a Duel Monsters card. With the power of each of the Signers and their respective Dragons, they can call forth the Crimson Dragon.

The Signers are destined to battle and defeat the Dark Signers, their anti-thesis. But instead of having a single god, every Dark Signer wields their own god, called the Earthbound Gods that stem from South American Nazca lines. Each time a Dark Signer duels, purple fire is created and forms a giant picture of their Nazca line. Whenever an Earthbound God is summoned, hundreds of people (excluding Signers themselves) trapped within the fiery lines are sacrificed.

Yusei is the main protagonist of the series. His parents were actually the leading scientists behind M.I.D.S, a group who developed Momentum (a form of kinetic energy) technology seventeen years ago. When they tested the first system, a disastrous shift in the tectonic plates occurred, later named Zero Reverse. This caused Domino to split into Neo Domino and Satellite and Yusei’s parents to meet the unfortunate demise of death. An infant Yusei was sent to a Satellite orphanage to be brought up by his foster mother Martha with two other kids named Jack and Crow.

Now Yusei lives beneath a street in Satellite along with a group of friends. But due to reasons concerning the plot, he has traveled back and forth between Neo Domino and Satellite a few times. He was currently in Satellite at the time of being pulled, getting ready to head toward the old Momentum controller where Kiryu, one of the Dark Signers was.

PERSONALITY:

Yusei, while being quiet and stoic at first glance, is actually cares a lot towards his friends and treasures the bonds he has with them. He’s not someone to strike up a long chat nor get emotional about anything. This is partially due to his upbringing, where non-pleasing sights and learning to kept your mouth shut was just apart of everyday living. The only time he does display bold reactions is in extreme circumstances. For instance, not long before coming into the city, Yusei witnesses his adoptive mother’s death, causing him to scream in shock and disbelief.

Yusei is also an expert when it comes to engineering and technology skills. A talent both inherited by his excelling scientists parents and from having to make due with what he had. He’s built two D-Wheels from nothing but any sort of junk he could get his hands on. He’s also fixed up a television set that could receive hacked televised signals from Neo Domino. Having gotten into quite a number of fights and skirmishes in the unkind criminal laden streets, he’s also versed on fighting and can beat the shit out of anyone if they are attempting to block him.

He also has a very forgiving nature toward other people. When Jack stole his ace card, Stardust Dragon and the first D-Wheel he’d built, he never displayed any grudges or outward anger towards him. He’s told Saiga, one of his friends from Neo Domino who trashed his friendship with Yuji, close friend, that Yuji still values their bonds as friends.

Not only is Yusei tough on the inside but also he’s quite resilient as far as his exterior body is concerned. In canon, he has been beaten up, shocked multiple times with a short span, tasered and hit with the force of Duel Monsters attacks that have been rendered real and walked away with only scratches. The only actual time he was critically injured was during his duel with Kiryu. His D-Wheel broke down and tossed him off, causing a piece of rubble to stab him in the chest. And even that only required surgery, which he was good as new within a day.

He fears two things. Losing his bonds with his friends and Kiryu’s god power. He holds his bonds, as previously stated, very close to him and would do anything to prevent losing them. This is another reason why he forgave Jack for his actions. He fears Kiryu’s power as a Dark Signer, but its been soften due to his vow to defeat the Dark Signers and Jack literally knocking some sense into him. However he has nightmares about the duel and is distraught by the fact that his old friend cannot be saved.

CLASS: Hero

SUPERHERO NAME: Satellite Star

ALTER EGO: Yusei Fudo, a mechanic at a junk shop where he builds and fixes all kinds of machines.

POWER:

In canon, Yusei is a Signer in which he bears a birthmark that is one of the keys for unlocking the Crimson Dragon. It also allows glows painfully during any high emotional battle with other Signers. If he is also in close proximity to any Dark Signer or dueling them it will also flare up and cause discomfort to him.

Another Signer ability he posses is the ability to generate a pink force shield to protect him and anybody around him from Earthbound God summonings, which sacrifices the souls of anybody in the immediate area.

In the City, Yusei still has his birthmark and the only difference in it is that it can’t assist with unlocking the Crimson Dragon anymore. His shield is also still with him, but instead of protection from becoming a sacrifice, it can protect him from other sorts of harm. It’s fairly weak however, and can only resist the force equivalent to one human at normal strength.

One additional power Yusei has gained is to able to transform into a humanoid Stardust Dragon. This causes a small number of changes to happen to his body. The most glaring difference being the wings of Stardust that spurt from his back. This allows unlimited, somewhat fast flight for Yusei. His yellow highlights in his hair turn a very light shade of blue. Lastly, all of his senses are heightened; and if he takes too much damaged, he will revert back to normal.

No, it looks fine. But then, I'm stuck on my second app...and then god, the third one...I'm already :O over that.

^^;

Yeah, that one. XD Which would be in use, except Nina's doing an amazing job with canon!Yusei. And it's like, built for this Yusei. XD

I don't think it really matters, but it would probably give a better impression posting with your mun journal.
