Just a small rant

Sorry to anybody on my F-list who is guilty of this, but I'm sick of some people being constantly on fucking invisible all the time on IM. And its fine if you go on it occasionally or something, but when you never come on off it its irritating. How am I suppose to know when you're available? I would love to be able to talk to some of you on IM more, but I can't because you never come on available status.

Invisible is the worst IM feature ever.
Blocking serves all of the purposes for using it in the first place.

It's only occasionally that I appear offline on anything, and it's usually because I don't feel talkative. Otherwise, I'm online a lot. xD

I'm guilty but I have a few very legit reasons as to why I'm on invisable alot a majority of the times 1) I haven't had access to my computer, and my mum throws a hissy if I try to download anything onto her computer so no AIM for me. and 2) when I am on AIM I tend to get stupid IM's from people who only want to contact me to either go "RAWR HOW DARE YOU BREAK MARTIN'S HEART!" or just IM me because they have no intrest in trying to befriend me at all and only want to talk about the fucking abridged series.

I'm sorry I've come off as a bad friend. ;_;

Drive-by suggestion to help deal with that: make your screen name friend-locked/buddy-locked, if you haven't already, so that only people you have added to a specific list will be able to see you online, or even be able to contact you. It should reduce the amount of strangers harassing you, and let you keep in contact with the people you care about.

From what I've dug up:

Block or Unblock Screen Name to Your Buddy List®

Launch the AIM® software, then sign on using your screen name and password.

The block or unblock screen names to your Buddy List:
1. Tap the F7 key or click the Edit menu to open it, then click Settings....
2. Click the Privacy tab.
3. Choose one of the following option by clicking it.

* Allow all users to contact me: When you select this preference, any AOL or AIM user can see that you are online and can send you instant messages
* Allow only users on my Buddy List: When you select this preference, only people whose screen names you have added to your Buddy List® window can see that you are online and send you instant messages.
* Allow only the users below: When you select this preference and add names to the list, only the people whose screen names you add to the list can see that you are online and send you instant messages.
* Block all users: When you select this preference, no one can see that you are online or send you instant messages.
* Block only the users below: When you select this preference and add names to the list, only the people whose screen names you add to the list will be prevented from seeing that you are online and from sending you instant messages.

T_T That sucks, but I do want to second olesia's suggestion of F-locking your buddy list if possible ( I don't know how to do it myself though ><)

I use invisible when I don't want to talk to people, but sometimes I forget to sign myself back on visible when I'm done being anti-social. This has sometimes resulted in a week-long span of invisibility when I'd only been antagonistic for a few hours.
