My stepsister, who's due to have a kid in two months, is having a second baby shower. Yes second.

Only because she found out that her second baby is a boy this time. Which makes no sense in my brain. Because she just traded in a bunch of baby girl clothes for boy clothes and she has plenty of things for the baby from her firstborn. She even has a room filled with nothing but baby stuff like a crib, bouncer thing, toys and a rocking chair.

Maybe I'm wrong to think its tacky to have a second shower when she has plenty and she had her firstborn three years ago :\

But nevertheless, I'll go in with a smile and keep my mouth shut.

Congrats for her. I don't see anything wrong with having a baby shower unless it was just an excuse to get more money.

Yeah its just I've always thought that baby showers were supposed to welcome girls into motherhood and help them provide for the new baby. But she's already a mother and has plenty of stuff ^^;

I... would probably think anyone who did that was just milking it at that point. Unless it comes with "no gifts lets just have an excuse to partay" stipulation. Because any reason is a good reason for mindless partying :}

For all I know, it could be a culture thing. I think my mom had a baby shower/party thing for all four of the kids in our family. Then again, I'm first-generation American, so it could be different reasonings behind that. :/

If she was expecting gifts, I'd be LOL WHAT but accept it anyway. Getting a new kid's a big thing, firstborn or no. And at least the second one won't have to bitch about using hand-me-downs. :D :D :D

Maybe I dunno, around here its just considered rude/impolite to have a second giftgiving shower. But then again I'm probably contradicting myself considering I don't follow most of the "norm" morals and values around here.
