“Daddy where are we?” The young tiny Mariko asked to her father. They were not in fact in Japan anymore. No longer was the explosion and fire choking their senses. But instead dead silence and the soft backdrop. Pain stopped overwhelming them in fact they felt nothing.

But Kurama continued to carry his daughter forward, not even sure what lies ahead.

“We’re in heaven.” He thought they were anyway. Didn’t heaven always portrayed as this?

“What’s heaven?” Mariko, despite her damning sins, had a very infertile view of the world.

“It’s a place where good people go.” An untruth because deep down the two had committed humanity evils.

“Daddy…” Mariko looked over to the side, wearing a face of gloom. “Am I a good girl?”

Kurama smiled faintly, putting a hand on her mane of purple. “Of course you are. You are my daughter and I won’t let you be in pain anymore.” He promised.

Mariko only laughed, the first innocent laugh she did in her existence.

haha I have only read a couple chapters, in the anime Kurama dies with Mariko. Probably the saddest scene in the entire anime.
